Wait Until I'm Gone

from Too Old To Boogie, Too Young To Die by Dusty Woods

/

about

Ironic country vocal about loving and losing, in a 50s-flavoured honky-tonk shuffle with rock lead guitar.

lyrics

Now you say that you're trying to forget me
And it looks like it won't take you very long
Just another day or two and you'll be over me
But I'd kinda wish you'd wait until I'm gone.

I saw you yesterday with your new love
And next to me he looked so young and strong
Seeing him made me feel old and in the way
And I kinda wish you'd wait until I'm gone.

Bridge
Now I'm standing in the shadows
Of a love that used to be
Trying to get used to being
Just a memory
Well, it hurts when love so sweet dies young
That used to be so dear
Won't you kindly wait till I'm not here

Oh, but I guess your mind's made up,
There's no use talking
And my mind's getting close to moving on
So won't you try to be a little patient, dear
Just another day or two and I'll be gone
Well, I kinda wish you'd wait until I'm gone.
