Verse 1: Now there is a house in New Orleans They call it the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know that I'm one Verse 2 My mother was a tailor She sewed my new bluejeans My daddy was, he was a gambling man Down in New Orleans Verse 3 You know the only thing that a gambler needs Is a suitcase and a trunk And the only time that he's ever really satisfied Is when he's on, on a drunk Verse 4 I got one foot on the platform Got the other foot right on the train Lord, I'm going back, I'm going back down to New Orleans I'm going to wear that ball and chain Verse 5 So mothers, tell your children, tell them all Not to do what I, I have done Spend your lives in sin and misery In the House of the Rising Sun Reprise Now, there is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know, I know I'm one

Verse 1: You've never been hungry, never been alone, You've never been out on the street without a home, You're so hung up on winning you don't know how it feels to lose, And baby, pretty baby, now you think you've got the blues. Verse 2: Your mama gives you jewelry, daddy buys you cars, And you can't understand why I play these low-down bars, Well welcome to the real world, sometimes you don't get to choose And baby, pretty baby, you think you've got the blues. (Ah, tell us about it) Verse 3:: (Ah, one more thing baby -) You come on so high-class, make me feel second grade, Just remember baby, virgins are born not made, Well, I'm out of here now, so I guess you've got the news, Well baby, pretty baby, NOW you've got the blues! (Bye-bye, baby!)

Verse 1: Black cat howlin' in the alleyway Middle of the night, no sign of day, All alone and I'm about to lose my mind, On the blue side. Verse 2: Shadows hide me for a little while Searchin' everywhere for that lover's smile There's no tellin' what you might find On the blue side. Bridge: Stray dog barkin' at nothin' much, At the wind blowin' through the shadows and such. Got my collar up against the cold Here on the blue side with nothin' to hold. Verse 3: Sun's comin' up, I can't stand the light I'll stay in the shadows until tonight Find a place for my heart to hide On the blue side On the blue side

Verse 1: All you women, stand in line, if you want that sweet, sweet loving of mine Shake that thing You gotta shake that thing You gotta shake that thing if you want to get along with me. Verse 2 Oh baby, you look so good, I know you could if you only would Shake that thing Yeah, shake that thing You gotta shake that thing if you want to get along with me Verse 3 Hey now darling, I don’t want to fight, if you won't shake it your sister might Shake that thing She might shake that thing Hey, you gotta shake that thing if you want to get along with me Verse 4 You know, shaking that thing, it feels so fine, you shake yours and I'll shake mine Shake that thing Come on, shake that thing You gotta shake that thing if you want to get along with me Verse 5: Well, all you women, stand in line, if you want that sweet, sweet loving of mine Shake that thing You gotta shake that thing Yeah, shake that thing if you want to get along with me. You gotta shake that thing - well you can shake it one time for me, yeah.

about

This was Dusty's premiere blues album. Take a trip on the blue side of life with everything from original jazz-blues like title track "On The Blue Side" to sensuous blues instrumentals like "Love Slides Away". Uptown or downtown, everybody gets the blues sometimes.
Listen for flavours of film noir, Santana, even Peter Gunn!
