One More Singing Cowboy

from Too Old To Boogie, Too Young To Die by Dusty Woods

/

about

A country picker approaches the end of the road in a mid-tempo country two-step with lots of twang. A tribute to the pioneers and the road runners of yesterday.

lyrics

You've sung so many lies in your sad songs,
Till the lies have a life of their own
Now the lines in your face tell of being alone
One more singing cowboy's coming home.

I never heard you singing on the jukebox;
The radio don't play your kind of song
There's another smoky bar at the end of the line
One more singing cowboy's come home.

Break:
He never found the key to fame or fortune,
Well, it seems so easy for the chosen kind
Nobody ever said it's because you never tried
Now it's looking like you're runnin' out of time

Now there's one old drunk sleeping in the corner;
You try to get your agent on the phone
He knows another town where they might want you
One more singing cowboy's going home
Yeah one more singing cowboy's going home.
