Long Time Rock 'n Roll Blues

from Too Old To Boogie, Too Young To Die by Dusty Woods

/

about

Bouncy rock 'n roll with a light-hearted, mildly nostalgic vocal. A loving look back at the 50s - for some of us the music never died.

lyrics

White bucks, flattops, that old gang of mine
I wish I could go back to 1959
It's only I'm lonely, missing all the things I used to do
It's true
Now here I am, I got those long-gone rock 'n roll blues.

New age, heavy metal, punk and soul
Lord, whatever happened to just plain rock 'n roll?
I'd love to find out what happened to Donna and Peggy Sue
Hey what's the news?
You know it ain't easy with the long-gone rock 'n roll blues.

Bridge
Well, take me back to Memphis, Lord you know I want to go
Just like that yellow sun, my heart is goin' down slow...

In these modern days I feel so out of place,
The kids all look at me like I'm from outer space
It was great but it's late, and I can't find my blue suede shoes
I paid my dues
High and dry with the long-gone rock 'n roll blues
Well, here I am, I got the long-gone rock 'n roll blues.
