Deep Winter Blues

from A Dusty Christmas by Dusty Woods

/

about

Whimsical country blues about winters that last too long. About half-way between blues and country with a touch of Vaudeville flavour.

lyrics

Verse 1:
It's been a long, cold December, worst I can remember
Everybody I know has got the flu
Well, maybe I'm getting old, but I sure hate the cold
Wintertime gives me the blues
You nearly freeze yourself to death every time you take a breath
There's nothing you can do
Outside, my lawn jockey looks like he's playing hockey
Wintertime gives me the blues.

Break
I'd like some real good loving and a fire to cuddle in front of
I'm not that picky, heaven knows
I know beggers can't be choosers - how can you tell winners from losers
When all the chicks are bundled up like eskimos

Verse 2
So please, Santa Claus, when at my house you pause,
Leave me something I can use
Don't want to sound like I'm a taker... How 'bout Christmas in Jamaica?
'Cause wintertime gives me the blues
- Maybe the Bahamas?
Wintertime gives me - well, all those bikini mamas -
Wintertime gives me the blues.
