Cruel Cruel Fool

from Straight Up by Dusty Woods

/

about

Too late for regrets. Classic Dwight-Yoakum style Bakersfield loving-and-losing country song. Fast and driving, with lots of harmonies.

lyrics

Chorus
You cruel, cruel fool
Tried to play it cool
Now she's through with you
You cruel, cruel fool

Hello, mirror, what do you say?
Are you strong enough to face another day?
Well, she's gone, she's gone, and left me here
Cryin' lonely tears -

Chorus
You cruel, cruel fool
You made her blue
Now what you gonna do
You cruel, cruel fool.

Well, if I'd been truer, she might have stayed
Mirror, help me on my lonely way
Yeah, she had enough, now I'm alone
I guess I should have known -

Chorus
You cruel, cruel fool
The joke's on you
She found somebody new
You cruel, cruel fool.
Mirror's cryin' too,
You cruel, cruel fool
