As Long As There's A Jukebox

from The Sound Of Lonesome by Dusty Woods

/

about

Lively, classic up-tempo two-step with a lot of twang and a Waylon/outlaw beat. A song about a cheating woman and the guy who loves her too much to leave.

lyrics

Refrain:
Just as long as there’s a jukebox and someone to hold her tight,
She may not be gone forever, but she’s sure gone for the night,
Well, just as long as she’s still happy, I’ll keep buying the wine,
And we’ll drink a toast boys, to that lady who was mine.

I still believe she used to love me, that was once upon a time,
You know, nothing works forever when two hearts are on the line,
Soon I saw the storm clouds gather, chase our sunny skies away,
And now the silence of my lonely world, it lets me hear my poor heart say.

Refrain:
Well, just as long as there’s a jukebox and someone to hold her tight,
She may not be gone forever, but she’s sure gone for the night,
But just as long as she’s still happy, I’ll keep buying the wine,
And we’ll drink a toast boys, to that lady who was mine.

I hope a honky-tonk can mend a heart, while that old jukebox wrecks a home,
You know, a bottle ain’t the best of friends, but I can’t stand to be alone,
I thought that we belonged together, guess I never had a chance,
But I’ll drown my pride and wish her well, 'cause there she goes for one more dance.

Refrain
Just as long as there’s a jukebox, and someone to hold her tight,
She may not be gone forever - Lord, she’s sure gone for the night,
But just as long as she’s still happy, I’ll keep on buying the wine,
And we’ll drink a toast, boys, to that lady who was mine.
Yeah, we’ll drink a toast, boys, to that lady who was mine.
