Honky-Tonk Days
02:40
|
|||
Verse 1:
It was a honky-tonk band, four pickers in a van
Headed for another place to play
Singing all night, the booze and the fights
We thought that it would always be that way
The ups and the downs, the highways and towns
Thinkin' life was just a big ol' stage
Band on the run - damn it was fun -
Lord, I miss those honky-tonk days.
Bridge:
We never made it to the big time
I'm not sure we ever really tried
We took what we were given, at least we made a living
I'm just thankful for the ride.
Verse 2:
Why did it have to end, I'd do it all again
If only I could have my say
Pour me one more beer for the times that disappeared
Guess we kind of let 'em slip away
Now the world has move on and our music's mostly gone
Me and my gang are turnin' grey
That train's gone down the tracks, it ain't coming back,
Lord I miss those honky-tonk days
Damn! I miss those honky-tonk days

My Turn To Cry
02:55
|
|||
Verse 1:
Well, we just said goodbye like before
But this time you're the first one out the door
And you don't mind the teardrops in my eyes
'Cause you told me that it's my turn to cry
Verse 2:
You know I'm as true as I can be
I'm not the man that I used to be
So your leaving me was such a big surprise
You told me that it's my turn to cry.
Bridge:
Well, you know that it's been some time since I let you down
And even longer since I saw the lights downtown
Verse 3
Still you won't forget or even try
For you told me that it's my turn to cry.

Verse 1:
Once I was the king of barstool mountain
I'd climb it every night come what may
Now I don't have the heart, my kingdom fell apart
And the barstools are getting higher every day.
Verse 2
You can't be a king without a queen
And the sweetest one I know just walked away
She didn't mean to be unkind, she just changed her mind
And the barstools are getting higher every day.
Bridge:
A king upon a throne
Ain't much good if he's alone
And who needs a mountain that you can't climb
The saddest thing you've ever seen
Is a king without his queen
Now watch the king slowly lose his mind
Verse 3
Now every night I'm back here in my kingdom
I guess I just don't know another way
So I sit here all alone, I can't face going home
And the barstools are getting higher every day.
Oh lord, the barstools are getting higher every day.

Ex-Darling Blues
02:12
|
|||
Verse 1:
She used to be nice, used to be sweet
She used to give me loving that would knock me off my feet
But all that's changed, things ain't like they were before
And now my darling don't call me darling no more.
Verse 2
I tried to make amends, I tried to explain
She changed all the locks and threw me out in the rain
Well, it's a pitiful sight: a man pounding on his own door
And now my darling don't call me darling no more.
Bridge
Baby, baby, tell me what you want me to do
You're hanging up the phone, saying leave you alone -
I'd do anything just to get back to you.
Verse 3
Used to be my baby, treated me so kind
Now the way she's acting's got me out of my mind
I can't get over the woman that I still adore
And now my darling don't call me darling no more.
Yeah, now my darling don't call me darling no more.

Drive-In Blues
02:47
|
|||
Verse 1:
Took my girl to the drive-in, she went out for a snack
She must have lost her way 'cause she's still not back
Now I'm trying to stay cool,
Got those lost my love at the drive-in blues
Verse 2:
She must have been hungry, so I don't mind
But milk duds and popcorn shouldn't take so much time
Now I'm hungry too,
Got those lost my love at the drive-in blues
Bridge
I know she couldn't have planned this,
She'd never leave me lost and so forlorn
Now I'm flashing my lights so she can find the car
Cause they told me, stop blowing my horn...
Verse 3
Now everybody's staring like I'm some kind of freak
I'm still here at the drive-in, hey, it's only been a week
Oh, what can I do
Got those lost my love at the drive-in blues

Oh Lord A'Mighty
03:01
|
|||
Verse 1:
Oh, Lord-a-mighty look what's happened to me,
I'm about as helpless as any poor man can be,
I took a walk downtown, heavens above,
I met a little girl and I fell in love,
Oh, Lord-a-mighty look what's happened to me.
Verse 2:
Well, she's the kind of woman a man finds it hard to resist,
One look from her eyes and I'm dreamin' 'bout her sweet kiss,
People shake their heads, they don't understand
What a little bitty girl can do to a man,
Oh Lord-a-mighty look what's happened to me.
Bridge:
Well, I can't eat and I can't think,
Since I met that girl I ain't slept a wink,
Is this any way for a man to be?
Oh Lord, look what's happened to me.
Verse 3:
Oh Lord-a-mighty, well ain't it a funny thing,
We only just met and now she's got me pickin' out rings,
Well, now she says it's time we set the date,
Believe it or not but I just can't wait,
Oh Lord-a-mighty, look what's happened to me.
Oh Lord-a-mighty, look what's happened to me.

Verse 1:

Yeah, I'm going away baby, I won't be back till fall.
If I should find a good woman, I just might not be back at all
Verse 2:
Honey, let me be your sideline just till your main line comes
Why don't you let me be your sideline till your main line comes
'Cause I can do more switching than that main line ever done

It's Over
05:29
|
|||
Verse 1:
It's over,
All I can do is set and cry
Oh baby, oh baby,
All I can do is set and cry
'Cause it's all over
And you know, I just don't know the reason why.
Verse 2:
It's over
I can feel it in my heart.
It's over
I can feel it in my heart.
Our love is dying
And it's tearing me apart.
Verse 3:
Bye-bye, baby
I won't see you no more.
Please kiss me one time, baby
I won't see you no more.
'Cause it's all over, baby
Down this lonesome road I go.

New Kind Of Blue
03:27
|
|||
All alone at a table set for two
My world is shaded by a new kind of blue
Champagne bottle and cigarette
She said she'd meet me, but she's not here yet
Well I don't understand it
Last lonely candle burns down to the table
You know, it's just like she planned it
I'd leave if I were only able
All alone at a table set for two
My world is shaded by a new kind of blue
(long instrumental break)
Well I just don't understand it
Last lonely candle burns down to the table
Well it's just like she planned it
I'd leave if I were only able
All alone at a table set for two
My world is shaded by a new kind of blue
