Straight Up 02:58
It's gettin' so nowadays I don't even turn on the radio They don't play nothin' I want to hear Some guy in a big old cowboy hat tellin' everything he knows, He don’t even look old enough to buy a beer. Chorus Straight up! Well, give me something real, Something I can feel Honest music that cuts right to the bone - Give me country music straight up or leave me alone. Now the country charts are filled with these good-lookin' kids Yeah, but they all sound alike. Nashville forgot about Waylon and Hank and all the things they did - It's time we told Nashville to take a hike. Chorus Straight up! give me something real, Lord, something I can feel Honest music that cuts right to the bone - Give me country music straight up, or leave me alone. Now it's all so clear to me what's happened to our songs, Country music's become Nashville light Well maybe I'm a dinosaur, maybe I'm all wrong, I ain't goin' down without a fight... Chorus Straight up! give me something real, Lord, something I can feel Honest music that cuts right to the bone - Give me country music straight up, or leave me alone. Give me country music straight up, or leave me alone... Yeah, just leave me alone.

I'm not drunk tonight, I wanted you to know, I passed that point several drinks ago, Lately I've decided that's the only way to be Since you fell out of love with me. This old honky-tonk ain't much but it's my home, When I'm here I don't have to be alone, Each night we're together, just me and your memory, Since you fell out of love with me. Bridge: Swingin' doors and sawdust floors and a jukebox playin' loud, Watchin' dreams and memories gettin' lost in the crowd. Thanks for droppin' by to visit what's left of a man, Now don't look so worried, you know I'm doin' all I can, Are you goin' so soon, I guess you've seen all there is to see, Since you fell out of love with me. Oh, since you fell out of love with me.

Travellin' has always been my way Of tryin' to ease my troubled mind Movin' up and down this endless highway, I guess I'm not the settle-down kind. Somewhere on the blacktop or down a gravel road There must be something I need to find. It must be not knowin' that's such a heavy load, I guess I'm not the settle-down kind. Bridge Well, I've got to see the other side of every mountain Guess that's just the way I'll always be, Give me my suitcase and an old guitar, And don't stand between the door and me... Honey when it gets to be my time to roam, Please don't think I'm bein' unkind. Way down inside I was born a rollin' stone, I'm not the settle-down kind.

For All Time 04:52
A long, long veil and a gown of white, You sure look happy and I guess I'm alright, And if you ask me, I'll just say I'm fine, But I have loved you, and I love you, and I will love you for all time. You'll walk the aisle and say those vows, I won't see it but I'll know somehow, It's a perfect picture, two hearts entwined, But I have loved you, and I love you, and I will love you for all time. Bridge: My mind keeps painting pictures my heart won't see, I know even my dying breath won't set me free. A smile, a kiss, and then it's done Your loneliness has ended, mine has just begun, You wear a golden ring, oh but it's not mine, But I have loved you, and I love you, and I will love you for all time. Yes, I will love you for all time.

Stumble Inn 03:21
Chorus: Well, down at the Stumble Inn I'm trying hard to pretend That her letting me down really didn't bother me I got a table at the Stumble Inn where I'm sittin' with all my friends A bottle of whiskey, and low-down memory. I've got a jukebox plays me anything I want to hear Helps me to forget that she's not there And those old neon lights they're shining on me tonight While she's out with someone else, I'm trying not to care. Chorus: Meanwhile at the Stumble Inn I'm trying hard to pretend That her letting me down really didn't bother me I got a table at the Stumble Inn where I'm sittin' with all my friends A bottle of whiskey, and low-down memory. Hey, bartender, why don't you do it to me one more time And put it on my tab 'cause I've spent every dime. You know it takes so long, getting over a love this strong But as long as you keep pouring, I've got nothing but time Chorus: Down here at the Stumble Inn I'm trying so hard to pretend That her letting me down really didn't bother me I'm gonna stay at the Stumble Inn where I know that I've got friends A bottle of whiskey, and low-down memory.

You could have told me it was over It seems like the kindest thing to do I guess now I know you no longer love me But I wish I could have heard it from you. I tried my very best to make you happy I never thought your love would prove untrue They all tried to tell me that you had found another But I wish I could have heard it from you. Bridge You say you didn't have the heart to hurt me Well darling, I've heard that line before Now that you're gone, I guess I should be happy - At least now, you won't leave me any more. I'll try to pretend my heart's not lonely While you walk away with someone new No one will ever tell, though I wish you well, I wish I could have heard it from you I wish I could have heard it from you.

Well, I was sitting' in my double wide, nothing' much to do Watchin' TV and sippin' on a brew Heard a funny noise, went to look outside, It was the little green men come to take me for a ride. Chorus: I saw the saucer comin' after me, Swoopin' and a-divin' way above the trees Heart started poundin', got a shaking in my knees I saw the saucer comin' after me. Well, I woke up in the saucer, surprised to be alive, They showed me all around, they even let me drive - Poppin' space wheelies way above the blue, Havin' a ball with the little green crew. When I finally got back and tried to spread the word, Tried to tell everybody about what I'd seen and heard Called Oprah, Springer, I even wrote a book, Now all I got was a bunch of funny looks. Now every night you'll find me outside, Watchin' the sky, hopin' for another ride. See, here on earth they all think I'm a fool, But little green women think earth cats are cool Chorus: Well, I saw the saucer comin' after me, Swoopin' and a-divin' way above the trees My heart started poundin', got a shaking in my knees I saw the saucer Well, I saw the saucer I saw the saucer I saw the saucer I saw the saucer...

Nighttime on the prairies, there's a sad Alberta moon I'm sitting here with my broken dreams -why'd it have to end so soon No big dramatic goodbye scene, just a note by the telephone She's a cold wind from Montana, and it chills me to the bone. I guess we came from different worlds, I was north and she was south I thought she really cared for me, but now I've got my doubts 'Cause everything but her memory has just packed up and gone She's a cold wind from Montana, and it chills me to the bone. Bridge: She said she didn't want true love, just someone warm to hold Now every time I hear her name I shiver from the cold A cowboy's life is a lonesome life - I guess I'm living proof Now I know she didn't love me, it's time I faced the truth Maybe when I leave this world they'll carve it on my stone She's a cold wind from Montana, and it chills me to the bone. She's a cold wind from Montana, and it chills me to the bone.

Eugene 02:19
Met him down at Riske Creek, at the general store Drivin' through to Hanceville, he smiled as I walked through the door Heard him talking 'bout his life, the things that he had done, Buckin' broncs and Texas bulls, he rode them one by one. Chorus Eugene used to ride the rodeo Back in his younger days, he told me so. Bought myself a soda pop, he bummed a cigarette Then he told a story that I never will forget 'Bout a wild young Indian cowboy who rode across the land Ridin' in the rodeo and learning to be a man. (Chorus) Now the days are gettin' short, his eyes are growing dim Forty years of broken bones are kinda catching up to him Traded in his saddle for a brand-new pickup truck It ain't as much excitement, but at least the thing don't buck. Chorus Eugene used to ride the rodeo Back in his younger days, he told me so. Eugene used to ride the rodeo And I believe him, 'cause he told me so.

Chorus You cruel, cruel fool Tried to play it cool Now she's through with you You cruel, cruel fool Hello, mirror, what do you say? Are you strong enough to face another day? Well, she's gone, she's gone, and left me here Cryin' lonely tears - Chorus You cruel, cruel fool You made her blue Now what you gonna do You cruel, cruel fool. Well, if I'd been truer, she might have stayed Mirror, help me on my lonely way Yeah, she had enough, now I'm alone I guess I should have known - Chorus You cruel, cruel fool The joke's on you She found somebody new You cruel, cruel fool. Mirror's cryin' too, You cruel, cruel fool

Memory Lane 03:01
He’s old, he’s supposed to forget, that’s what we would say, When a man’s been so strong, it’s hard to watch him just fade away, He never said much but his eyes couldn’t hide the pain, As he stumbled and fell, walkin’ down memory lane. He’d sit all alone, watchin’ his endless TV, He didn’t know what was on, didn’t care, it’s just poor company, Old friends dropped by, he couldn’t remember their names, As he stumbled and fell, walkin’ down memory lane. He died in the springtime, I guess he was thankful to go, I never said goodbye, couldn't face it - too much like letting go But oh what I’d give if I could just see him again, Though he stumbled and fell, walkin’ down memory lane. Oh, he stumbled and fell, walkin' down memory lane.

I used to think heroes wore six-guns and Stetsons Or sailed the blue ocean with swords at their sides, But now that I’m older I see there’s some heroes, Who do what they have to and swallow their pride. Chorus: And this is a song for the modern-day hero Who works in the factory on the old nine to five, Let's raise a glass for the every day hero He just does what he has to, to keep his family alive. He works in the mines and he drives for a living, He fishes the ocean and serves in the stores, He gives up his dreams of fortune and freedom, He knows that he’s needed so he gives some more. (Chorus) There’s all kinds of songs about cowboys and drifters, The TV is full of the tough private eye, But stop for a moment and think about heroes, Say a small prayer for the regular guys. Chorus: And this is a song for the modern-day hero Who works in the factory on the old nine to five, Let's raise a glass for the every day hero He just does what he has to - to keep us all alive.

Solid country honky-tonk the way Dusty likes it - straight up. Cry-in-your-beer country, country rock, a two-step with a definite Canadian flavour, and the defiant swamp-rock of Straight Up. Listen for flavours of Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard and Dwight Yoakum.
