Tele-Pickin' Bandit
02:59
|
|||
Chorus
Well, he's just a travellin', Tele-pickin' bandit
Making his living in the bars of the land
He's just a good-for-nothing Tele-pickin' bandit
Playing in a four-piece bandit band.
Verse 1:
He had a home once, that's all behind him
Sit-down desk job, a loving wife
Gave it all up for the ways of a gypsy
Gave it up for the bandit life.
Chorus
Well, he's just a travellin, Tele-pickin' bandit
Making his living in the bars of the land
Good-for-nothing, no-account Tele-pickin' bandit
Playing in a four-piece bandit band.
Verse 2
Well nobody sees the lonely hotel rooms
Nobody sees the broke-down trucks
They just see him pickin' and a-grinnin'
Sit around cussin' him for all his luck.
(Yes, they do)
Verse 3
I've been doing my best to imitate you
Learning to do the things you do
Hey, Mr. Bandit, can I go with you?
I want to be a bandit too.
Chorus
Well, he's just a travellin, Tele-pickin' bandit
Making his living in the bars of the land
Good-lookin', no-account Tele-pickin' bandit
Playing in a four-piece bandit band.

Party At The Honky-Tonk
01:58
|
|||
Verse 1:
They got a knock-down bass and a loud guitar
Something's going on at the corner bar
Beer and whisky and cheating hearts
Don't want to miss nothing, gotta get there 'fore it starts
Chorus
There's a party at the honky-tonk
There's a party at the honky-tonk
They got women and beer,
I think I'll stay right here.
Verse 2
Drums beating rhythm loud and strong
House rockin' steady, you can't go wrong
Lots of pretty women dressed up right
Send out for pizza, I'm staying all night
Chorus
There's a party at the honky-tonk
There's a party at the honky-tonk
I'm having a ball,
Might not go home at all.
(All right!)
Verse 3
You can hear the noise for miles around,
Everybody rockin' when the sun goes down
Neighbours called the cops, said 'Lock up the door'
They said "No such a thing - party some more"
Chorus
There's a party at the honky-tonk
There's a party at the honky-tonk
Everything's right,
I'm gonna be here all night
'Cause there's a party at the honky-tonk
There's a party at the honky-tonk
They got women and beer,
I think I'll stay right here.

Leaving Time
04:20
|
|||
Verse 1:
Never did too much talkin', words just got in the way,
Now comes the time for walkin', I guess there's nothin' more to say,
You won't see me anymore, if I can just get through the door,
There's no reason and no rhyme,
But it's leavin' time,
It's leavin' time.
Verse 2:
I feel the cold wind blowin', another year has come and gone,
And it's not easier for knowin' leaving time is coming on,
We can't say we didn't try, but I won't stay to watch love die,
I never meant to be unkind,
But it's leavin' time,
Oh, it's leavin' time.
Verse 3:
Please don't look at me that way,
We both know that I can't stay,
I know you'll never leave my mind,
But it's leavin' time,
Yes, it's leavin' time.
We never did too much talkin', words just got in the way,
Now comes the time for walkin', I guess there's nothin' more to say...
Guess there's nothing more...Leavin' time
Oh, it's leavin' time

Crawdad
02:31
|
|||
Verse 1:
Well, you get a line, I'll get a pole, honey
Well, you get a line, I'll get a pole, baby
Well, you get a line, I'll get a pole,
We're gonna go down to that crawdad hole
Honey baby mine.
Verse 2
Yonder comes a man with a sack on his back, honey
Yeah, yonder comes a man with a sack on his back, baby
Yonder comes a man with a sack on his back,
You know, he's got more crawdads than he can pack
Honey baby mine.
Verse 3
Watcha gonna do when the creek runs dry, honey?
Well now, watcha gonna do when the creek runs dry, baby?
Watcha gonna do when the creek runs dry,
You gonna sit on the bank, watch them crawdads die
Honey baby mine.
Verse 4:
So, you get a line, I'll get a pole, honey
You get a line, I'll get a pole, baby
Well, you get a line, I'll get a pole,
We're gonna go down to that crawdad hole
Honey baby mine.

I Hate Trains
02:33
|
|||
Verse 1
Well, I drove her to the station in my pickup truck, I watched her get on board.
She had a one-way ticket, said it's all she could afford.
Now I'm watchin' that old southbound train rollin' down the track,
And I've got a funny feelin' she ain't never comin' back.
Chorus
I hate trains, and I hate pickup trucks,
All the things my baby used to mess me up
Now I hear that lonesome whistle blow and it 'bout drives me insane--
I hate trains.
Verse 2
Well, I wrote her a nice long letter, and I sent it on down the track.
I even called long distance, askin' when she's comin' back.
She said she's in no hurry, she's happy where she's at,
Now I'm standin' in the station and I'm realizin' that...
Chorus
I hate trains, and I hate pickup trucks,
All the things my baby used to mess me up
Now I hear that lonesome whistle blow and it 'bout drives me insane--
I hate trains
Chorus
I hate trains, I hate pickup trucks,
All the things my baby used to mess me up
Now I hear that lonesome whistle blow and it 'bout drives me insane--
Oh man, I hate trains
Ooo - I hate trains.

Bad Winter
02:40
|
|||
Verse 1:
It used to be springtime in my heart
Winter set in when we fell apart.
Now a cold wind's blowing on and on
Sometimes a bad winter lasts all year long.
Verse 2:
You walked out and the cold moved in
It's been snowin' ever since then
Now the trees are bare, all the green is gone
Sometimes a bad winter lasts all year long.
Bridge:
It's too many days since you've been gone
Winter ain't supposed to last this long
Air's so cold I can't catch my breath
Honey come back 'fore I freeze to death
Verse 3:
Now the river's froze over like an icy stream
Nothing living outside far as I can see
Honey won't you tell me what I did wrong
Sometimes a bad winter lasts all year long.
Sometimes a bad winter lasts all year long.
Sometimes a bad winter lasts all year long.

This Side Of Lonesome
03:00
|
|||
Verse 1:
I'm sure you've been wondering
Just where I've been
Since you up and left me
I've hardly been seen
It seems I'm alone now
More than most would choose
On this side of lonesome
Just me and the blues.
Break
I just stay here in my room, all alone
I'd hate to be away in case you might phone
Verse 2
My friends think I'm crazy
Now that I'm free
They say, find another
It's not that easy for me
They just don't understand
How it feels in my shoes
On this side of lonesome
Just me and the blues.
On this side of lonesome
Just me and the blues.

The Fool In The Mirror
03:45
|
|||
Verse 1:
I only came in here to have one or two
And drown those old heartaches like I often do
Oh I'm getting better, at least so far
Except for that mirror there behind the bar
Chorus
Cause there's a fool in the mirror who looks just like me
He just can't get over those old memories
Oh I'd be all right if I couldn't see
That fool in the mirror who looks just like me.
Verse 2
This fool took a good love and tore it apart
When I walked out on a sweet, trusting heart
Oh I had it all, Lord, I must have been blind
Now me and the mirror, we're losing my mind
Verse 3
Thank you Miss, I'm not looking for a new love right now
I know I look lonesome but I'll make it somehow
My poor heart says it's too soon, it wouldn't be right
Oh, look, the fool is crying, now ain't that a sight?
Chorus
There's a fool in the mirror who looks just like me
He just can't get over those old memories
Oh I'd be all right if I could not see
That fool in the mirror who looks just like me.
Oh I'll keep on drinking 'till I just can't see
That fool in the mirror who looks just like me.

Kelly Called
03:20
|
|||
Verse 1:
I'd almost forgot her name
It tore me up just the same
Now it's been years, ain't it funny how time can fly
I thought my world would mend
Someday we could be friends
Then Kelly called from Kansas City to say goodbye.
Verse 2
Who is Kelly, you might ask?
She's just a girl from my past
I'm sure I can forget her if I try
But right now it feels so strange
To see the way my world has changed
Kelly called from Kansas City to say goodbye.
Verse 3
Well she said at last she's free
She's finally over me
I could say that it don't hurt but I'd have to lie
Now she just hung up the phone
Lord, I feel so all alone
Kelly called from Kansas City to say goodbye
Kelly called from Kansas City...
Goodbye, Kelly.

Hellbound Ghost
02:53
|
|||
Verse 1:
Don’t look for me in the morning
'Cause I'll be gone, yes I'll be gone
Something in my soul dies a-borning
I'm moving on, I'm moving on
And it won't be 'cause I don't appreciate the tenderness
There's a weakness in my soul, nothing more and nothing less
Sometimes in the night comes the dream that I fear most
Leaves me screamin' like a hellbound ghost
Leaves me screamin' like a hellbound ghost
Verse 2
I know you did your best to try to please me
It can't be done, it can't be done
I know you did your best to try to keep me
But I'm on the run - I guess I'm not the one
You say I'd learn to love you if I'd only try
I'm not saying I don't love you, I'm just telling you goodbye
Sometimes in the night comes the dream that I fear most
Leaves me screamin' like a hellbound ghost
Leaves me screamin' like a hellbound ghost
Verse 3
Some day you'll look back at this, say it was the best
Maybe you'll forget me, like I've done with all the rest
Sometimes in the night comes the dream that I fear most
Leaves me screamin' like a hellbound ghost
Leaves me screamin' like a hellbound ghost
It leaves me screamin' like a hellbound ghost.

The Road
03:30
|
|||
Verse 1:
No matter where you're going, where you might have been,
Thumbing through the phone book to see what town you're in,
Where the hotel's just called "Hotel", doesn't have or need a name,
Just go on, do your job, make 'em glad they came.
Verse 2:
Sometimes it's almost worth it, when the music plays just right,
You're the most famous stranger in this town tonight,
Tomorrow you'll be leavin', packing up but then
You hope they don't forget your name, you might be back again..
Chorus:
And that's the road, the way it's always been,
A few good highs and a lot of lows, and you're somewhere in between,
that's the road, it's a place you know too well,
It don't go on forever but sometimes it's hard to tell.
Verse 3:
Next town might be different - yeah, this could be the one,
Maybe you'll get back some love for all those songs you've sung
But it really doesn't matter, you'll do it just the same
It ain't a life it's a living, so just go on and play.
Chorus:
And that's the road, that's the way it's always been,
A few good highs and a lot of lows, and you're somewhere in between,
That's the road, it's a place you know too well,
It don't go on forever but sometimes it's hard to tell.
That's the road.
That's the road...
